Today is Christmas!! What does Christmas mean to you? To some of you, it might be about presents or spending time with family. What is the true meaning of Christmas, though? What is the real reason for the season?
The real reason for the season is Jesus, the Son of God. Christmas is celebrating Jesus’ birthday. Nobody knows the real day He was born, but we celebrate on December 25th.
Who is Jesus? Jesus is the Son of God. God and Jesus are both Spirits but Jesus came down to earth in flesh as a baby about 2000 years ago when the calendar reset. Jesus experienced everything we could, so, as our loving King, He fully understands us. Here are some other names Jesus was called:
- The Lamb of God
- The Prince of Peace
- The Son of Man
- Rabbi (meaning teacher), He was called this by His disciples
- The Son of God
Why do people give presents on Christmas? People give presents on Christmas because giving free gifts to each other represents the free gift that Jesus gave to us. The free gift that Jesus gave to us is Salvation. Everybody who ever walked the earth other than Jesus, The Perfect Man, has sinned. We cannot be in God’s perfect presence in heaven with our sin. That is why Jesus came down to earth as the perfect atoning sacrifice for our sins. He died so we don’t have to. We will still die on this earth, but we don’t have to go to hell. Jesus was crucified on a cross, beaten and mocked, then was seperated from God temporarily to pay for our sins. He is the only way to get to Heaven (John 14:6).
How can I get to Heaven? It is very simple. To get to Heaven, all you need to do is believe that Jesus is God’s Son, ask Him for forgiveness of your sins, and surrender your heart to Jesus. If you want more information read a Bible or visit a Bible Church near you.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and not that of yourselves, but it is the gift of God. Not through works, so that no one can boast.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave us his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
John 14:6 Jesus answered, “ I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
